Around the Hotel

The Château de Fontainebleau

A landmark in French history, the Château de Fontainebleau was one of the residences of French monarchs from Francis I to Napoleon III. Several kings left their mark on the construction and history of the château, which stands as a true witness to the various phases of French history since the Middle Ages.

Surrounded by a vast park and neighboring the Forest of Fontainebleau, the château features medieval, Renaissance, and classical architectural elements. It reflects the meeting of Italian art and French tradition, expressed in both its architecture and interior decorations.

Earning the title “House of Centuries, True Home of Kings,” bestowed by Napoleon I, the Château de Fontainebleau carries over 700 years of French royal heritage. Today, it offers visitors its architectural treasures, including decorations, paintings, and thousands of fascinating and precious objects it has preserved.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, the Château de Fontainebleau attracts over 300,000 visitors annually.
